Dancing linear circles
Turns (giros) and counter turns don't always have to go in a circle. It's fun to be able to stretch the structure of the turn, over and under rotating the pivots so that you come out with completely different results. Ladies come prepared to disassociate!
4:30 pm to 6 pm
Special Sacadas
We have prepared a figure that is nice when done fully, however, we would like to teach it in 4 separate pieces so that students can more easily use the material on a crowded dance floor. Each portion of the figure, has it's own technicality and sense of completion. We know that learning the figure in this way, will help it be more easily integrated while dancing.
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Colgadas with Pasadas
Executing a colgada correctly is a wonderful feeling. It gets even better when you combine the spiraling rotation with a step that sweeps you off in a different direction. We want to instill in our students' minds, the concepts that will help them lead and follow colgadas in seamless harmony.
Sunday
12 am to 1:30 pm
Planeos
We will study different planeos for show tango, but teach students to lead and follow these amazing steps. Even moves that seem to be beyond the normal realm of lead-follow, can still be based in the beautiful subtlety of improvised tango. We will see how to use the planeos in the music to produce a strong visual effect and to be able to keep dancing as if nothing ever happened.
2 pm to 3:30 pm
Rhythm and pause
The use of pauses and of different rhythms is very important when we want to really dance to the music. And not just half way, when we really want to use the music in all its brilliance. We will see how to use the energy to be able to dance quickly and stop or change to smooth movements making the dance look fluid.
4 pm to 5:30 pm
Patadas
This fun movement needs a lot of precision in the leader and in the follower, so we will work the details of the lead and the reaction of the follower to make it look easy and elegant. The figure will have patadas in different directions and height depending of the intensity of the lead. Lots of energy concentrated in a small movement, can produce big things!
